I’m u18 and I like it!

Well we knew going up against Castaways Wanderers wasn’t going to be an easy day, especially for the u14’s that ultimately got schooled at Windsor Park the second week of league play. The boys did catch a second wind to score some points, but the game was never in jeopardy for all the CW parents that came out in droves, final score 55 to 26 in their favour.

On to the u16’s that looked very strong week two and secured a solid win, which was not to be repeated. We definitely came out a bit flat but they were looking for a some revenge and went away satisfied. Very solid play on their part, moving the ball and running to space like the coaches tell them to. We mounted somewhat of a comeback with Harry crossing the line a couple times in the second half but it was too little too late with the final score 55 to our 22 points.

The bright side of the day was reserved for our u18 boys, who were looking for some payback of their own after receiving an only loss back in October and satisfaction was received! The opposition came out quick to score first but the boys settled into game, finishing the first half not only with a small lead but a big defensive stand that kept them out of the end zone changed momentum. The guys came out for round two and started to dominate possession through the half that earned them a well deserved 39 to 7 win. MVP goes to Hluma for scoring 19 points on the day, Taiki, Rheo, and Peter all added to their try totals however scoring or not, this was the team’s best effort of the season. Undoubtedly we will see them in the playoffs.

Last but certainly not least is our u18 girls squad that looked to have enough players for a full team however other commitments and a few injuries have made it a challenge to dress enough players. Turns out we are not alone and only rapids in Courtenay have proper numbers so the BCRU has combined teams to salvage the season and we have been paired with CW. Turns out it was a good idea and the girls sailed to a 39 to 22 victory, looking very good getting it done,

This weekend the boys host Westshore and the girls are at MacDonald Park with CW for JBAA/Nanaimo. Cheers, Glenn
